It’s always interesting to hear when someone shares that there is a verse in the bible that talks about marriage and exactly what is happening in your life at a certain time. While I have read pieces of the Bible….it’s just amazing how those pages are paper thin and all of them lead to two things: LOVE…and do the right thing.
Today – someone was talking about their marriage (a man who said how much he love his wife) and that he really likes this passage from the bible. I wrote it down and when I came home – not only did I read it, I paused.
It’s almost embarrassing. I barely remember to pick up a kid from school. And here is a man, husband, father of 3, who reads the bible daily and knows this passage almost by heart.
While I don’t have a husband like this nor do many of us, men like this touch my heart and make me feel comforted. Maybe that’s why they enter our lives.
Read the passage from the bible below and pray that your husband hears these words.
Oh and if you get stuck on the first few sentences as being not of the “women’s movement” and the real world today, I agree that it’s a different perception – the “old” way of thinking. But for just a minute have an open mind and try to understand that men need this from us to be men. Just like we need things from them to feel like women. Make sense? The truth is in the whole passage. If we both take care of each other – it all works out.
Then just be. Don’t tell, don’t talk, just be.
Ephesians 5 – Walk in Love
Wives and Husbands
22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
25 gHusbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and hgave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by ithe washing of water jwith the word, 27 so kthat he might present the church to himself in splendor, lwithout spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.1 28 In the same way mhusbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because nwe are members of his body. 31 o“Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and pthe two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, qlet each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she rrespects her husband.
